Gunsmith Cats Characters

Each character gets a brief overview on this page - if you want more details, follow the link, but be aware that there may be some spoilers.

Rally Vincent
Star of the show! Although Rally's day job is being a gunsmith, selling and customising weapons, she spends at least as much of her time as a bounty hunter. Actually 19, Rally maintains a pretence of being in her early 20s to avoid awkward questions over things like gun licenses. Her two loves are precision handguns and classic cars, preferably of the American muscle variety. Given the amount of abuse she gives her prize Shelby Cobra GT500KR Ford Mustang (deep breath...), the fact that she's a pretty damn good bounty hunter comes in handy for keeping her in replacement car parts.

Minnie-May Hopkins
Everyone needs a sidekick, and Minnie-May finds associating with Rally provides a good chance to indulge in her love for explosives of all kinds, something she picked up from her boyfriend Ken (see below). Although only a year younger than Rally, May still looks about 12, despite the best efforts of Chinese herbal medicine.

Becky Farrah
Glasses Girl! Becky is naturally nosey, and puts her inability to mind her own business to work by digging up as much dirt as she can on what's going on around Chicago's criminal network - Information she will happily sell to the highest bidder. Although she's a friend of Rally and May, she still won't let them have anything for free, though this occasionally seems to give her conscience a twinge. Despite her association with the Gunsmith Cats, Becky is very much an independent agent.

Misty Brown
Almost ex-burglar (gotta keep your eye in, y'know?), Misty has a long and colourful history on file with Chicago PD. Picked up by Rally as just another bail jumper, she ends up helping them out, maybe in return of a favour from Rally, maybe because bounty hunting let's her make use of her lock-picking skills. A definite factor is that, as the token lesbian, she has a thing for Rally - which has generated no small number of fan-fictions, even though it doesn't go anywhere in the original story.

Ken Takizawa
Ken Takizawa
Minnie-May's lover, Ken is a well-known underworld explosives expert. Able to build a bomb that is impossible to disable without his guidance, he has been hired by several criminal syndicates to build devices for them. He spends much of the time in hiding from various people who want him dead, and eventually finds his way back to May to become a regular helping hand to the team. In his mid-thirties, not everyone approves of his relationship with the teenage May, especially given her pre-teen appearance.

Roy Coleman
Chicago PD detective, Roy has that stereotypical grizzled-middle-aged-cop thing going on. You never find out how he gets to know Rally, but the two are good friends, and help each other out - Rally will pass on information she gets, and Roy helps out when Rally and co. get into legally-awkward situations. You get the impression that Roy, who's at least twenty years Rally's senior (and married), regards her almost like a niece or daughter. He does not react well to subordinates hitting on her.

"Riding" Bean Bandit - The Roadbuster
Bean is my favourite character. Legendary wheelman, with a love for big V8s, Bean is known as the delivery driver for legally-dubious cargo. He will take anything, or anyone, anywhere - for a price. Six-foot-six and big with it, Bean is never seen without his trademark bulletproof jacket and bandana, which combined with his natural strength and toughness make him almost indestructible. Although he has no trouble in dealing with criminals, Bean has a solid sense of honour - he will always protect children, and regards someone's word as binding. If someone crosses him, he will make them pay.

"Iron" Goldie
Goldie is probably the nastiest villain Rally encounters, and runs into her on numerous occasions. As big and tough as Bean, only without the sense of honour or charisma, Goldie is also close to being the stereotypical Evil GeniusTM. She becomes obsessed with Rally, and the challenge she represents, if for no other reason than the fact that the bounty hunter is the only person to go up against her and survive.

Rally's Father
Not much history is known about Rally's Dad, except that he's as good as Rally with firearms, if not better, and taught her how to shoot when she was a little girl. Very much a Daddy's Girl, Rally hasn't seen or heard from her father in years - but he does make a shocking return in the later comics. We do know that he owned a gun shop, and it may indeed be this shop which Rally currently runs with Minnie-May. It is probable that Rally's taste in weapons owes a lot to her father's.

Riff-Raff "The Snake Charmer"
Another professional driver, Riff-Raff earns her nickname from a taste for AC Cobras. She looks on Bean as the man to beat, and this sense of competition causes her to sometimes put proving her abilities before completing a job. She can be very hot-headed, and lacks the air of professionalism exuded by Bean.

Other Characters
It's hard to include much detail on the other characters encountered in the series without giving spoilers for the plot, so they've been put on a seperate page.
